Donoor's Curse by Sharath Komarraju

9:37:00 AM

I have always liked Sharath's writing in thrillers and this is the second book that I read of his in this genre. Set in some forgotten village of India, the author has managed to bring to life the people and the place alike. Mysterious things start to happen in Donoor, as strangers start showing interest in the place famous for having a lot of twins. Wether it is a boon of the village goddess or there is a scientific logic to it remains to be discovered. Troubled by death of this godfather and his visions, Devdatta Pathak goes to Donoor to find answers. What he finds there is truth of his whole life. His actions, though well meant, lead to events unwanted and brings unlikely people together.

I liked this story , the characters,so simple yet complexly embroiled in the plot. The story gradually kept unfolding with each chapter and even the end , which kind of became clear after three-fourth of the book ,left me happy. This is the kind of book I want to read the sequel too some day. Maybe I want to know more about Devdatta, his mother and the way he turns his life from this point. Perhaps the backstory in the current book has not answered all the lose ends.

Findung Lyla by Cate Beauman

9:04:00 AM

Finding Lyla is the second book I read from the bodyguard series by Cate. While the first book I read was good on the romance , this one scored a lot on the story. This for me is a good political thriller , a story of circumstances that govern a person's life even across continents.

Lyla is an accomplished ballet dancer , the much loved celebrity of Russia because of her mother being a legend there. Her life revolves around making appearances and doing things that are expected of her.

On this visit , the political environment in Russia is very volatile and dangerous for her due to her dad's posting as the ambassador from USA. Lyla is no fan of security and to give the people reassurance that she can function alone and like always, she agrees to take a bodygaurd along her. Collin is a no pretention, charming yet tough guy who instantly sees the chemistry with Lyla. But he also choses to wait and let things take their course unless it hurts any one of them. I liked the way this story develops slowly and in a way i could relate to it. It gives a vety fair picture of each of their carrear and the need to find some one who understand our masks.

Good writing , good characters and a decent thriller till the end. I liked this one.

Falling For Sarah by Cate Beauman

1:10:00 AM

Falling For Sarah was supposed to a be a breezy romance but I was glad it offerred a lot more in the mystery section too. The one thing I will always remember this book is for the way it describes friendships - as dear as families and as sincere as it can be. While reading about Ethan and Sarah in the first few chapters , together with Hunter , I realized how blessed are people with good friends in their life. If you have such friends and loyal people around you, you will apprecuate this book a little more.

Also, the progression ( or vice versa ) of Ethan's relationship with Sarah is a little awkward at times and seems forced too but the mysterious stalker keeps things interesting. Sarah is shown as a very strong and genuine person who loves her daughter , her friends and her job. She is the kind of real woman you dream to be. No wonder she catches the fancy of the twisted stalker killer. It is now upto Ethan and his friends-team to keep everyone around Sarah safe and catch the killer.

The writing is simple and engaging from the beginning to the end. The flow is good and the book is a breezy read indeed most part of it. I did not like the explicit sex scenes though but that is a personal choice. The sex is not forced or faked up for the sake of story but actually takes it forward , I just would have liked it a little toned down.

Overall I enjoyed the book. it was a good break from the usual heavy stuff I had on my book shelf.
